Project co-design is a collaborative and participatory approach that seeks to involve indigenous communities in all stages of project development. This approach recognizes that indigenous communities are the guardians of their territories and possess in-depth knowledge of their natural and social environment.
Its central objective is to strengthen the autonomy and empowerment of indigenous communities, promoting their active participation in decision-making and in the management of projects that affect their territories and ways of life. It also seeks to guarantee respect for their human and cultural rights, as well as the protection of their traditional knowledge and their biocultural heritage.
