About
THE SANCTUARY
We work to create a network of sanctuaries in the Gran Chaco Ecoregion where the knowledge and cultural traditions of indigenous peoples can thrive in a protected and sustainably managed territory. In this way cultures and biodiversity can once again thrive together.
Pillars of the sanctuary
“Any culture, as any star, no matter how small this is, becomes essential to the universe”
Juayuk and Ancestral Regeneration Techniques
Juayuk, a Wichi elder, dedicates himself to preserving ancestral wisdom and protecting the forest. His teachings on living harmoniously with nature inspire efforts to reconnect with traditional practices and promote sustainable stewardship.
Project Uniqueness
Our project merges indigenous wisdom with modern landscape design to create a model for sustainable development. Unlike typical reforestation, we co-design with local communities to ensure relevance and long-term impact, addressing ecological and social goals.
Replication and Strategy
This sanctuary serves as a replicable model. Starting with 17 hectares and aiming to expand to 600, it will grow across the Gran Chaco and beyond, inspiring similar climate resilience initiatives worldwide. By succeeding here, we create a blueprint for addressing climate change globally.
You can support the sanctuary in various ways. Don’t hesitate to reach out at info@alianzawichi.org if you have any questions or would like to support us in a specific way. To make a donation now, visit our donation page:
